Some of the key activities conducted through Age Concern Advocacy include: 

    • Attendance on government and non-profit task forces to face the main issues relating to ageing 
    • Participation on public commissions to research and analyze the needs of Bermuda's ageing population
    • Engagement in public relations on behalf of Bermuda's 50+ population
    • Promotion of healthy ageing and long term care
    • Community awareness of ageing-related issues & opportunities
    • Active engagement in sector learning communities

 

Some of the key accomplishments attained through Age Concern's Advocacy include:

    • Founding of charity Chap-a-Laige in partnership with the Family Centre and Pride Bermuda
    • Formulation of the island's first Geriatric Aide Program
    • Introduction of Senior's Week
    • Commencement of the Shared Housing Program
    • Introduction of "Leaning"  buses to the public transportation system
    • Removal of Immigration Restrictions for Expatriate Caregivers
    • Reduction of Land Tax for seniors
    • Expansion of H.I.P. benefits to include medication coverage

 

Who it is for? 

This service is for anyone over 50 years of age. We welcome enquiries from individuals, families, relatives and friends. We also accept referrals from healthcare agencies, GP surgeries, Adult Services, and residential homes.
